Over the last 2 decades perhaps one of the most important discoveries in the field of Cancer Biology has been the appreciation of the role of the immune system in Cancer development and treatment. Since, evading the immune system was adopted as one of the hallmarks of Cancer in 2011, work in this field has grown exponentially. The resulting knowledge, weaponised as immunotherapy in the form of antibody and cell therapies has revolutionised Cancer therapy. However, despite great successes in some hard-to-treat Cancers and adoption into first line therapy in others, there is still much to learn. Given the complexity it is common for researchers and clinicians in one sphere of this work to be silo’d and so it is important to bring them together at a single conference where new insights and cross-fertilisation can take place. Specifically, we plan to highlight recent developments in 4 main areas: Antibody Immunotherapy; Technological advances for deconvoluting cancer immunology; Next generation Cellular Therapies and Translating ideas to the clinic. This conference will bring together cancer researchers from across these diverse areas of cancer immunology, who will present and discuss their latest work in understanding how the immune system interacts with cancer cells, how immune suppression can be overcome, what biomarkers underpin response to existing and novel immunotherapy and how our findings can be translated to the clinic.
