Why hold a meeting with BACR?
Having a history of facilitating the interchange of ideas among workers in all branches of cancer research and a membership of over 1300 people, you can see why the BACR is an attractive way of ensuring the right audience for a cancer-focused event.
The BACR organises meetings where original clinical and experimental data can be presented not only to members but to anyone who wishes to register for an event via the BACR website. Our links with other prestigious organisations such as EACR, NCRI, and RSM boosts the opportunities for networking and establishes collaborations with leaders in cancer research from both academia and industry.
The BACR’s is well-established in organising well attended events, and have a well-established Secretariat who administrates events from start to finish and will help you along the way.
So, you have an idea for a Conference or Meeting but you’re not sure what the next steps are… see our guidelines below to get started.
1. Where to start - points to think about when suggesting events:
What would be the aims of the meeting?
Will it be one day or two-day event?
Who are the anticipated target audience?
Who you would recommend as speakers?
What opportunities are there for raising sponsorship?
Please remember raising sponsorship is the sole responsibility of the organisers as they have personal contacts, but the Secretariat does have a list of organisations who they can contact on your behalf.
Should poster presentations or proffered papers be included?
2. How to submit your meeting idea:
You can either:
Send a half page outline of the proposed meeting to the Meeting & Training sub-committee of the BACR taking into consideration the points above
Let us have your contact details to enable a member of the Meeting & Training sub-committee to discuss this further with you if your suggestion is accepted.
or
If you would like to get more involved:
Send a half page outline of the proposed meeting taking into consideration the points above using this Meeting Proposal Form
If your suggestion is accepted by the Meeting & Training sub-committee you become an automatic member of the organising committee.
Get guaranteed support from other members of the organising committee in establishing a programme and budget.
Continued support throughout from the Secretariat in the promotion of your event, the search for a suitable venue and any other administration which you require in putting on a successful event.
